First Impressions of the LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed 35 mm Film by Hong Kong Film Lover Samuel
3 2Recently, we invited Hong Kong film lover Samuel to try our latest LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed Color Negative Film! With warm '90s tones, this film brings a beautifully nostalgic atmosphere. Samuel took a day off to visit different places in Hong Kong from morning to night and capture daily life including street photography, scenes of the Star Ferry, and the tranquility of the tram at night. Let’s take a look at his photos!

Hello Samuel, welcome back to Lomography Magazine! What have you been working on recently?
I recently bought a lot of expired film in Japan and i'm looking forward to shooting on a sunny day!
How would you describe the look of the new LomoChrome Color ‘92 Sun-kissed ?
I love how this film captures the daylight blues. I think the tones of the blue sky are beautiful! In addition, I feel that the graininess is more than expected, and it may be more suitable for shooting in dusk sunlight, but unfortunately I did not test it.
When shooting this film for the first time it will be a bit hard to imagine what the color tones will look. But after the shooting, you'll find that it's better to take photos of certain things, such as blue skies. In my impression, there was a green tint in several of the photos taken at the pier, like the cross-processing of expired slide film. If you master this film well, you can take photos with different feelings.
What do you think is the ideal situation for shooting the LomoChrome Color ‘92 Sun-kissed?
Shooting afternoon daylight, skies, interior scenes, and at night with street lights.
Do you have a favorite shot taken with this film? Tell us about it.
Hard to choose! I thought for a long time whether it should be the one with the Ferris wheel and the airplane, or the one with the street scene on the tram at night. If I had to choose, I would choose this one. You can see the distance along the tram track. I was sitting in the opposite direction, facing the rear of the car. As the tram went further and further away, we were also moving in a certain direction. It seemed that we were just looking at the destination and moving away.

In your opinion, what makes a great photo?
A photo that suits your own sense of beauty or contains many emotional factors.
This film is crafted to capture the magic glow of golden-hour. How would you spend a perfect summer evening?
I would go to an outlying island to find a seaside restaurant, sit facing the sea, eat delicious food, and listen to "Summer Night Wind" by deca joins.
What advice would you give to others shooting with the LomoChrome Color ‘92 Sun-kissed?
Consider shooting at a low ISO so it's less grainy. Be careful about overexposure when shooting in daylight. In addition, I feel that the tone of this film is dark, so I might try not to include too many subjects in the photo. The photo will not look messy and the subject I want to shoot will be more distinct. The last thing is, there will be surprises when shooting at night!
