Epson Perfection V330 Photo Scanner - A Personal Review
14 24Some things are better done personally. We are spoilt for choice of scanners as there are many brands, models, functions to choose from. Also, photo and film scanners are quite expensive. But I chose this… EPSON Perfection V330.

EPSON Perfection V330 is a 35mm film scanner with optical resolution of 4800 dpi, hardware resolution of 4800 × 9600 dpi. With software interpolation, it can reach a maximum resolution of 12,800 dpi (Normally, Lomography competition requirement is only 768 dpi). Of course, besides scanning films, Epson V330 can also scan photos, documents, receipts, art work, books, magazines, and even 3D objects.

Supplied softwares are Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix® technology, ABBYY® FineReader® Sprint OCR, ArcSoft® MediaImpression™, ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch Deluxe. The 4 buttons on the bottom edge of the scanner are for power, one touch scan to PDF, scan to email and scan to printer.

To Lomographers, I think the most important criterion is film scanning. EPSON V330 is able to scan 3 types of film: Negative, Slides, Black & White. And it has Color restoration, Digital ICE settings etc that makes the job easier…

The best feature is the Auto Exposure function, it can save your underexposed photos, even those that are too dark on first glance.
The above photos are all severely underexposed and too dark to be seen before using the Auto Exposure function.
