Micro Holga: That Little Cute Camera!

16

This camera is as the size of your two fingers. Very small, super light-weight and carries a 110 film! No wonder this plastic toy camera has grazed and dubbed as “Baby Holga” since it’s like a little camera that warps magic on your shots!

This cute camera, the Micro Holga, comes in different colors. Red, blue, violet, white, yellow and whatever fancy colors that comes from the rainbow, the Micro Holga has it!

It has a fixed focus that lies from 1m beyond infinity. Lens is a versatile and cute f/8 of 25mm. Has a mechanical shutter that speeds in about 1/125th second. This cute camera eats up 110 film. It looks like a radio cassette — only smaller 50 times. It has a viewfinder that lies down atop of the camera and you have to raise it up, but just comes in a rectangular frame (just to give you the essence of what will your shot would look like).

There are several tips on using this camera. The loading of the film is quite genius; you load the cartridge at the back of the camera and let the gears bite. Wind (which can be found in front of the camera) until you can see in the cartridge indicator the number one. The shutter button looks so funny since it’s not above the camera but below! You have to press it inward the camera to snap a picture. After taking, wind again.

Use only when there is a lot of light available! Since the camera is small, try shooting or taking shots on noon-time or when the sun is high. Most of the 110 film ranges from iso100 to iso400, color negative. So far, there are no 110 slide films, but I heard this technique of using a 110 film, redscale.

This is actually a great present for your friend, girlfriend or even your child! Cute camera and very small, it fits inside every pocket and can also be used as a key chain!

It is funny how it exposes the two little retangulars on the sides of the main photo. Great review, you made me discover a new camera!

@old_skoolrider: dont have any idea where to get iso100 films in your place. I think I have five extra films left (I haven't been using this camera for quite awhile) and i will be checking if some of the films are asa100.

I was thinking that they didn´t sell this kind of film anymore - I remember that I had a cam like this - it was part of an emergency kit in my first car....for taking pics when you had an accident....

Super cool! I bought one of these about a year ago but haven't used it cause my lab (samy's) in Los Angeles no longer processes 110. Anyone know of a lab that does or a lab that I can send to in the US?

I really want to try one of these Baby Holgas, but I'm not sure I can get the film developed anywhere. I'm in London - if anyone knows a lab that will do it, please let me know!
